Kaleidoscope of Color – Castaic California

I’m very excited to share this image with you. Why you may be wondering? Well this was shot way, way back when I used a Mamiya 645 AF film camera. It was shot with a 35 2.8 and Fuji Velvia film, and I used a hand help spot meter pointed at the red in the sky and took a second reading on the red reflection in the water closest to me. A two stop Singh Ray ND grad brought balance to the force, and in those days you hoped to God that you got it right. Nowadays we just look at the back of our cameras and shoot until we see what we like, but back then you actually had to know a thing or two about the zone system and what 18% grey looked like. Anyways, it was one of my favorites from that time period and I gotta admit I kinda miss the good’ol days of film.
